In 1934 the painters of Kholuy joined in one group, which later became the basic enterprise. It brought up a lot of gifted artists. In 70-s and 80-s Kholuy miniature painting developed intensively. A lot of new products were created, filling up funds of a local museum and an assortment study of Ivanovo area, Moscow museum of national decoratively applied art, the Museum of National Art, where is a big collection of Kholuy varnished miniature and the department of the historical museum on the Kulikov field.

These years are characterized by expansion of assortment of let out products, the amount of samples from which artists carry out in small circulations of a product for the market, totals more then 700 pieces.

Since 1961 products of Kholuy miniature picturesquely enter the international market. The first order was from London, and then there were orders from the USA, Germany, France, Belgium and Italy.

The output to the international market promoted the development of art, lifted prestige of Russian varnish miniature, including Kholuy miniature.

In April, 1992 State enterprise “Art Factory of Varnish Miniature” was carried over workers by a privatization and began to refer to as an open company “The Diploma of the first degree Kholuy Industrial Art Workshops”.

The works of Kholuy painters usually take part in different exhibitions and sales either in Russia or abroad. Unique products borrow the certain places, grand prix etc. There are People’s honored and young, but very gifted artists among our workmen.

In 1999 “The Diploma of the first degree Kholuy Industrial Art Workshops” canceled their 65th anniversary and in 2000 it was transformed to the P.K. “Kholuy Art Workshops”.

Nowadays there are 200 people working in this enterprise.

With the issue of the Decision of the Government of Russian Federation №1349 in 04.12.99 since 2000 production of Kholuy Art Workshops concern to be products of a national art crafts on the basic of decisions of section of a varnish miniature of art expert council of national art crafts of Administration of the Ivanovo area.
